Hi I am Jon, a 22 year old from the UK, I've been playing Minecraft for nearly a decade now and i'm a big fan of collaborative themed building and have been a part of a fair few civilisation/faction based servers, i even run my own small private creative server. But I've never been on a server like this one before. The concept of a collectively build, persistent, lore driven Minecraft community is amazing to me and i'd really like to be able to contribute.
For a bit about myself, i spend a little too much time playing games that play like an excel spread sheet with a weird GUI. I'm a amateur digital artist and a big fan of playing or DMing games of D&D. Which is a good connection onto RP/ World-building as most of my experience with them comes from characters I've played or settings I've home-brewed.
To that end my showcase of lore writing skills might be a bit different to normal because i'm not confident with 1st person character writing. So instead i'll share some lore i wrote recently on a character i play's backstory in the form of an unsent letter.
Forgive me if it's a bit over dramatic.
Lore of the house of O’bair- Excerpt from a unsent letter to A daughter from her Father
The work is never done. The work must be completed. So says the house of O’bair.
Of course this isn’t our official motto, not at all, the public must see the house as a great line of metal workers, craftspeople and inventors. Our wealthy patrons must see us as the greatest producers of weapons in this age. If anyone got too close to knowing where our great skills and long lifespans came from it would be a disaster, no one wants to buy weapons made via a pact with a dark and hateful being after all. But worse than the loss of business, if people were to find out it would be so much harder to keep the family growing. To ensure there is always new blood to continue the work. New lives must be made, bound to this curse, the house expanded. So that the ones already claimed have vain hope for rest.
Let me start from the beginning, From when the work began.
You see ambition can be a terrible burden, dreams of perfection ever out of reach can drive people to do unthinkable acts, unwise deals. So it was from overzealous ambition that long forgotten ancestors of the house sought a pact, an foolish commission from a dark entity. A being whose name is best left forgotten, to forge for it the perfect weapon. A terrible and destructive implement worthy of it’s despicable commissioner. In exchange they and their bloodline would be blessed with unparalleled skills in creation and vast lifespans with which to take their time on the great work. But of course the work must be completed in their lifetimes. We their descendants inherited this "pact", this curse.
So began the work, But the work will never be done.
The problem with perfection is that is a fiction, a lie we tell ourselves, something to strive for but never reach. Predictably making a pact with a dark and foreboding entity backfired. Perhaps agreeing to make something “perfect” without knowing that that entailed wasn't wise, but hubris cares not for common sense. Now it has been countless generations of O’bair since the pact was made and not one has fulfilled this task. Great Swords, huge axes, metal beasts with hearts of steam, colossal moving castles, clockwork animals built for war and every other idea of a “perfect weapon” that could be, All offered up, all rejected. Every member of the family to try to fulfil the pack has failed and now the family catacombs are filled by their failures. Unfortunately the catacombs are filled with more than just unwanted weapons, and not with the dead as one would hope.
For the work does not end even in death.
The agreement to give extended life to the house so that they might complete the work within their lifetime was another great foolishness they agreed to. For the work is never done, so neither shall the lives of the O’bair. Only stretched out instead, thinned beyond life. Anything that would kill a normal person a member of the house would simply wake back up days later, with a little bit more of themselves missing, replaced with something more obedient. As the years drag on their lives are made hollow, their beings stretched beyond that which normal mortals are ever meant to endure. Till all that remains are the deathless Servants of the dark commissioner, and the mindless will to try, however futile it may be, to complete the work.
This is the horrid truth I found about my house, the house of O’bair and our sickening work.
A house you too will be claimed by, I am sorry my dearly beloved daughter. I am sorry, I did not know till too late. When you Read this, I will likely be gone already. The work will take me.
The work must be completed.
For the build picture i'm mostly going to show a East asian themed city build from my creative server I've been working on for a while. Mixed with a few smaller project just to show you i can build in more than one Style. Unfortunately most of the other large scale builds I've work on over the years are either on corrupted or deleted worlds or public servers mixed with other people work.
I'll give the first vote! 1/5
Generally we ask questions first, and I would still like you to answer them, but you have an amazing app!
What is/are your favorite colors(s)?
What type of fantasy races are you most interested in?
Do you have a general understanding of progression in this server?
What's your favorite biome to build in?
What's your favorite type of wood in Minecraft?
Regardless, you have my vote, 2/5
Here's another vote!
What a great application, you are clearly keen about the server! My vote, 4/5
5/5, great app. Looks like you gave us a firm look around. I'd like to hear your answers to the questions still tho =D
Thank you all so much for the quick and positive response. Damn i only went for dinner and already got 5 votes.
For the questions though:
Favourite colour: Red
Fantasy races: From this lore, the Dwarves, and i thought the Osyatao looked cute. But in general big fan of half-orcs.
Server progression: fairly certain i understand, in short the more builds and lore you contribute the more you progress.
Favourite biome: River/ocean. though i guess it's more build next to than build in.
Favourite wood: spruce.
Do your thing fellers, this mansquid has been accepted, liege offers may now commence

Thank you for your interest in Helios, the Dawn Lands." We are a realm who pride ourselves on vivid story telling and cohesive building. The framework of the Realm is such that stories can come from many avenues and a good story is far more important to me than building without purpose. Hopefully the brief information below, and the more detailed information on the Wiki will peak your interest and you will consider Helios in your search for a realm.
Helios is a land shaped by the brutality of its surroundings, and the protection of the Gods. Helians are a strong and dependable people who are tempered by horrors that would break lesser peoples, and often does. The Six Gods of Helios shape every aspect of life for Helian people. Sol the chief, Wenna the Gddess of good and light, Lorna the Goddess of dark and secrets, Alkourie the God of war and violence, Omar the God Nature and death, Zayl the God of magic and knowledge.
Helios as a nation was fractured for generations, besieged on all fronts by monsters and violence. Only in the last century have they come together under one banner again. This unification has seen the lands of Helios prosper and grow as trade became safer and more resources could be shared for the common good. None of this could have been done if not for a group of monster slayers known as the Knights Valiant who are blessed by the gods to be holy warriors. If not for them the horrors of the wilds would still be endlessly ravaging the Helian populace. Even with the renewed strength of the Knight Valiant the wilds of Helios are filled with monsters and other horrors and only the strongest and most resourceful have survived through it all.
Expansion looms on the horizon as the Great Houses of Helios finally become fully connected. What form that expansion will come in is unknown, but like anything to do with the warrior Helians it will involve a fair share of violence.

Your Place in it All
I have always felt that Helios is a framework to tell stories. The grim dark of the land can feed uplifting and terrifying tales. Helios is shaped by it's people, and as such character driven storytelling is something that is paramount. While the general application process has you create a character to plop into a realm, Helios implores you to make a native Helian to explore the world with, rather than an outsider who may supremely struggle with the foreign and brutal landscape. While this isn't required it is something that could help to more easily tell stories within the realm.
Builds. As important as the story telling. The land is sprawling and there are ample opportunities to build both small and large scale projects through out the land. Helios has several counties that each sport a unique, yet unified build style and culture. You can spend time in one or perhaps branch out to many. There is no set path in Helios and the goal is to get you invested in the realm either through builds or storytelling (ideally both) Those who stay with Helios in the long term are afforded large amounts of creative control over many projects both building and story so there is a fair amount of progression to be had.
Ultimately what mark you leave on the realm is yours to decide and I, and the other Helian's will be here to help you realize that mark.
Kaligos is a land of darkness and monsters. Founded by a Helian expat, Kaligos is a blending of Helian tradition and culture with the native population of Selk. The Six Gods are present among some former Helians, but a new form of magic has been found and intense study is underway! The Selk practice a lifestyle-religion known to outsiders as Selkine, which has a heavy emphasis on beast and nature spirits.
Kaligos is still a young realm, but I hope you'll consider joining me!
Having considered my Options I would like to join Obrexia.
