Official Statement to the Citizens of Kymeroi from the Court of King Thevenyn Houdretus regarding Independence from the Kryizon Empire, 521 FC

The officially stated objective of the Kryizon Empire is to "civilize the savage peoples outside [their] lands and create for them a better way of life. One with the Kysar as their leader and the Kryizon culture and customs in their everyday life." While we, the people of Kymeroi, recognize the Kryizon empire as an integral part of our roots, we have grown to become our own people with our own customs, and attempts by the Kryizon Imperial Government to "civilize" the people of Kymeroi have done nothing but set us back.
The great city of Kymeroi was founded in 499 FC by Kryizon expatriates, and those that moved to the city saw an immediate and drastic increase in quality of life. Not even two whole decades later, Kymeroi had already become one of the fastest growing Kryizon settlements and a cultural hotspot. The Kryizon Imperial Government, as a petty attempt to cripple their own city so it would not come to outshine Kyzon City itself, plagued our city and her denizens with absurd laws, ridiculous regulations, and exorbitant taxes.
In the spring of 517 FC, it was the unanimous decision of the Kymer provincial government that the best (and only) way to continue this period of Kymer prosperity was a complete and total separation from the Kryizon Empire and on the twelfth day of New Life, 517 FC Kymeroi became an independent state under the watchful eye of our first king, his majesty Thevenyn Houdretus.
Upon receiving our declaration of independence, the Kryizon military sent forth wave after wave of their finiest soldiers, thousands at a time, as an attempt to extinguish the desire for freedom burning within the hearts of all the men, women, and children of Kymeroi. Of course, thanks to the expert tactics devised by his majesty King Thevenyn Houdretus and our many accomplished generals we were able to defend our city from the scourge of Kryizon oppression for many years despite being greatly outnumbered and underfunded.
Kryizon aggression continued during the entire reign of the tyrant-kysar Fydica Haydryonus, and the city of Kymeroi would only know peace once again following his death. His successor, Jyn Haydryonus, has decided to recognize our independence. And thus begins a new era of peace and prosperity for the people of Kymeroi. While our great city-state was still burgeoning throughout the entirety of the war with Kryizon, we will now see growth on an unprecedented scale.
People of Kymeroi: now is the time to celebrate, go forth and be merry. The Gods have smiled upon us on this most glorious day.
