Contest: Build a Hamlet, Write a Story 1
This is a contest, and it is for building a hamlet in-game and writing a story about it / within or around it. Preferably new places, or recently started as of the time of posting this. Hamlets have generally been considered to be at least 5 builds and under 20. If you want to go larger, go for it, just know that the goal is between those two numbers and that bigger isn't always better. We would like to see detail in the build, as well as it being connected to the rest of the realm somehow. This will be similar, but obviously larger than the contest that Tywen just ran, with something similar for the lore. It is much harder to police lore of course, but we would like to see at least 300 words. No upper maximum, but again, bigger doesn't always mean better.
The time frame for this contest will be 3 months, and a little bit, ending on Monday, March 1st, 2021. This is to have a firm end date, as well as a good amount of time to participate.
For the build portion, a nice screenshot of the area and coordinates to the location have to be submitted.
The lore portion must be linked in the same reply, so it can be kept track of.
This contest will be judged by 4 individuals, the current Ministers at the time of posting, Tywen, Kyrin, Chewy, and myself, Bryson. Lore and hamlet will be judged separately and given a score, which will then be averaged with the scores that other judges have given.
There will be at least 3 big-ticket prizes:
Grand Prize, for getting highest score overall on both lore and hamlet: A full complement of netherite tools, fully enchanted. This includes 2 pickaxes, one with silk and one with fortune; 1 shovel with silk; 1 axe with neither; and 1 hoe. The winner will also receive a special prize book, the BAHWAS1 Grand Winner book, with an attached piece saying that you did indeed win.
Bestest Hamlet Prize, for getting the highest score on the hamlet portion: A dub of building materials, within reason, and your choice of 2 netherite tools, fully enchanted. The winner will also receive a special commemorative certificate, for BAHWAS1 Bestest Hamlet, to be framed and placed at the hamlet in question, for anyone to see in the future.
Bestest Lore Prize, for getting the highest score on the lore portion: A dub of building materials, within reason, and your choice of 2 netherite tools, fully enchanted. The winner will also receive a special commemorative certificate, for BAHWAS1 Bestest Lore, to be displayed wherever in-game, preferably next to a bookstand containing the lore in-game, but that's probably extra, so only do it if you want.
All entrants will also receive a commemorative cookie, stating that you entered into BAHWAS1!
All that being said, we want everyone to enter, and we can't wait to see what people submit! Do your bestest!
(Small disclaimer, there is a ministry election due in between now and then, barring any surprises we will still be the judges unless one of us wishes to opt-out.)
Hamlet name: Marmairadh (mar-mah-ragh)
Location: Teltebhhann Coordinates: (5600, 18500) (If you're trying to get there, take the nether line straight south from Hawk's Landing until you hit the tunnel going west labeled "Teltebhann," then just follow the coordinates. I swear I'll get a FTP someday :P)
Lore: featured in Prophecy, Part 3: Salt and Stone, or The Fall of the Son
(I've included two screenshots because I couldn't find a good single point of view that shows the entire settlement. Even this really doesn't cover it all but it at least this way is decent. You'll see what I mean if you visit yourself.)
The above contest will run until at least 5 entrants have entered, because no matter how much I would like to give all the prizes to Jude, I think some might call foul.
Location: Ella Credanh (20800, 12300)
Lore: Making Do in Kyllawin
