So for starters, my IGN is theironmountain, im 28 years old and live in canada, EST timezone. I've been playing minecraft since college about 9 years ago. For the majority of that time, i was playing either solo worlds or a realm with a few friends, that would always inevitably die out. It wasn't until just over a year ago that i started to branch out into playing on public servers, and it's been an absolute game changer. The problem is, that i can't seem to find a community that lasts for more than a couple months. I've even tried to start a couple servers here and there, which has taught me a lot about growing and fostering a community and has given me a great deal of respect for anyone who can even semi-successfully run a server, haha.
I have been playing tabletop RPGs for about 8 years, and while i'm usually on the PC side, i've done my fair share of world building in downtime. I've even tried a couple times to run my own game, but i suffer from a pretty bad anxiety disorder, so it makes DMing fairly tough. I've been working on this world, Sonderia, for about a year now just when i'm feeling creative and it's been a nice outlet for me. I've tried porting certain areas or concepts from paper into minecraft worlds, but have yet to find a server that i can settle down in for long enough to make real significant process.
I'm not sure exactly what i'd plan for if i get into the server, as far as RPing or builds go. I tend to let my environment influence my decisions after some exploration and think on the fly, so i wouldn't want to go in with my ideas already drawn out. Needs to be more freeform for me to work with it. I bring the same philosophy to my characters in d&d. I'll have all the basics fleshed out, but i need to see how they play in the world before i can start making serious decisions about them.
Here are some pictures of one of my recent projects, which was going to be a nordic fishing village called Southfoot at the base of a mountain named Mount Rune.
I hope to hear back from you, this server sounds like a world of fun and i hope i could bring something positive to it!
We also generally need a small sample of writing, be it a description of a character, an area, an event, it doesn't really matter what it is, just that we need something.
Here are a few common questions, please answer them when you can.
What is/are your favorite colors(s)?
What type of fantasy races are you most interested in?
Do you have a general understanding of progression in this server?
What's your favorite biome to build in?
What's your favorite type of wood in Minecraft?
@bryson3842 When i was younger i always told people that my favourite colour was yellow, because i heard someone say it once and thought it was a great answer (couldn't tell you why), but truthfully its a deep green. I love going on nature walks with my wife and admiring all of the different colours, but mostly looking for all of the different shades of green in the leaves and the mossy logs and the grass and plants.
I think dwarves are probably my favorite fantasy race, and they're my favorite to RP as in minecraft with all of the possibilities for stonecrafting. My family is scottish and i can do a pretty decent accent, so i tend to play dwarves in d&d aswell, and i've really grown an admiration for them over the years.
I do not, but i'm interested to learn.
My favorite biome is tied between a dark oak forest and a snowy tundra. Falling snow is one of the most magical things in minecraft i think, but i do love the variety of trees and mushrooms in the dark oak forest. I also especially love the sense of danger in a dark oak forest on account of the canopy.
The dark oak forest also has an abundant source of, in my opinion, the most beautiful wood in minecraft. The log, stripped log, and plank variants are all my favorite in each category, and i especially love decorating with dark oak trapdoors.
Love all that you have put forward so far, if we can get some lore out of you, you will have my vote!
Did you make that mountain by hand? Looks really nice!
